Our History
Our history dates back to 1980, when Airborne Freight Corporation (AFC) established an air hub in Wilmington, Ohio and began flying packages overnight as Airborne Express. The company soon grew to become the third largest express freight company in the U.S. We have come a long way since then. ABX AIR WAS GIVEN A COMMENDATION BY THE OHIO HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.

THE BOEING 767 WAS SELECTED AS THE NEXT GENERATION AIRCRAFT FOR THE ABX AIR FLEET.

AN EXPANSION WAS ANNOUNCED INCLUDING A RUNWAY EXPANSION AND A THIRD MAINTENANCE HANGER.

A RENOVATED PACKAGE SORTING FACILITY WAS OPENED WITH THE ABILITY TO SORT 520,000 PACKAGES A NIGHT.

NEW FUEL, MAINTENANCE, AND GROUND SUPPORT EQUIPMENT FACILITIES WERE OPENED.

AIRBORNE OPENED THEIR FIRST PACKAGE SORTING FACILITY. IT WAS DESIGNED TO PROCESS 50,000 PACKAGES EACH NIGHT.
