ABX AIR EMPLOYEES DONATE NEARLY $93,000
Local Charities Receive over $100,000
WILMINGTON, OH - Jan. 28, 2008 - Employees of ABX Air, Inc.,
recently completed their annual charity drive and pledged or donated
nearly $93,000 to four local charities. Combined with donations from
the Pilots Charitable Organization and ABX Air’s corporate donation
the total exceeded $100,000.
“ABX Air employees know that their involvement is the key to a better community,” said Chief Operating Officer John Graber. “The time and money they invest goes a long way to improving the lives of their neighbors and building a strong, caring community.”
The four organizations benefiting from employee donations during the fall charity drive are the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, the United Way of Clinton County and the Foster J.Boyd Cancer Center.
Eustace Stapler, Reliability Manager for ABX Air and a member of the United Way Board of Directors for over three years said: “Every donation makes a difference for our organization and those like ours. When our allocation committee meets we must decide how much money we can share with each group asking for our assistance and we base our awards on what we expect to receive each year.”
The internal drive ran for about six weeks at the end of the year. To encourage employee awareness of the drive, Employee Communication Coordinator Paul Cunningham publicized it with the theme "You are the key to a Better Community." Employees who participated were entered into prize drawings and received gifts depending on the level at which they gave.
"We really try to engage employees in the campaign and help them understand their donations stay close to home," said Cunningham. "These organizations make a big difference in the lives of many in our community and probably even people they know."
In addition to the annual charity drive, ABX Air, along with DHL and ASTAR Air Cargo held two base-wide food drives – one prior to Thanksgiving and one prior to Christmas. Benefits of the drive were donated to the Homeless Shelter of Clinton County, Clinton County Community Action and Your Father’s Kitchen.
