WILMINGTON, Ohio - April 16, 2007 - Representatives from ABX Air (NASDAQ:ABXA) will spend part of the afternoon on April 18 at Wilmington College, sharing information on the Student Work Program, a joint program between ABX Air and Wilmington College that provides an opportunity for college students to work while in school and earn not only an hourly wage, but also scholarship dollars toward tuition. Christine Probasco, a 2006 Wilmington
College graduate, was one of the original students engaged in
the work-study program in the summer of 2005. “Besides providing
financial assistance for the coming year, working at ABX Air
gave me experience working at a full-time job,” she said. She
noted it also presented her with an opportunity to live on
campus during the summer. “At the end of the year, all of us who
worked there that summer got a $700 to $1,000 bonus toward our
tuition costs. It is a great program and opportunity for
students.” |

First rolled out in 2005, the program benefits everyone involved, with the students getting the best part of the deal. Each semester, students choose their work schedule to fit their class schedule. Students must work a minimum of 10 hours per week for each semester in the program to earn $2 per hour toward the scholarship. “The Wilmington College students who participate in this program will have the potential to reduce or eliminate their reliance on student loans to finance their education,” said Dan DiBisaio, President of Wilmington College. “ It will make their college experience more affordable and may enable them to start their professional lives with little or no debt.” Thus far, 151 students have taken advantage of the program. Collectively they have worked over 39,000 hours at ABX Air, earning nearly $475,000. |
