WILMINGTON, Ohio - March 12, 2007 - Over

OVer 1,000 ABX employees were recognized
recently for excellent attendance. |
“You are
an outstanding group of people,”
Joe Hete, President and CEO of
ABX Air, told the group. “You are part of the best team there
is.”
Employees earn excellent attendance status by missing no more
than one scheduled shift throughout the year. Employees with
three or more consecutive years of excellent attendance are
invited to attend a recognition banquet. Over 300 employees were
eligible for the banquet this year – a nice dinner event
including a guest for each employee and personal recognition for
his or her achievements. |
“We had a great response for the banquet again this year,” said
Loree Fauley, event organizer. The tropical theme set the mood
for a relaxing and fun evening.

The annual event is attended by many of the executives. Vice
President of Aircraft Maintenance
Terry Scherz shared his
thoughts on the roomful of employees being honored. “Our first
several attendance award banquets were held in half of our break
room in Hangar 1005. It’s come a long way.”
As years
of excellent attendance accumulate, the attendees at the banquet
get to know the others. The retiring employee holding the
longest (so far) record for excellent attendance with 25 years,
Elmer Webster, received a standing ovation from the crowd.
“Betty Smith, you’re next,” he decreed, passing the torch to the
next most senior excellent attendee (21 years).
Employees who work at one of the many ABX Air locations around
the U.S. are also eligible for the recognition and are offered
the opportunity for dinner out near their location.
The Excellent Attendance Program supports the ABX Air values –
highlighting that Our People are vitally important to its
success. The employees recognized by the program also
demonstrate the ABX Values of Teamwork, Quality and Customer
Service. |

Elmer Webster achieved 25 years of excellent
attendance at ABX before his recent retirement. |
|
“I just can’t say enough about how great this group is,” said
Tom Poynter, Senior Vice President of Ground Operations. “I’ve
been involved with this event since we started it, and it truly
is wonderful way to recognize excellence among our employees.”
Topping off the evening, all employees attending the banquet
were entered into a drawing for five $1,000 prizes as well as
numerous door prizes.
