ABX AIR AND INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS & SUPPORT RECEIVE FIRST THIRD-PARTY ORDER FOR FLAT PANEL DISPLAY SYSTEM
WILMINGTON, Ohio - August 25, 2006 - ABX Air, Inc. (NASDAQ:ABXA) and Exton, Pa.-based Innovative Solutions & Support, Inc. (NASDAQ:ISSC) announced today an order for a Flat Panel Display System (FPDS) installation and additional options on a Boeing 767-200ER aircraft managed by one of their customers. This is ABX Air’s first third party Boeing 767 flat panel customer.
ABX Air and Innovative Solutions &
Support have announced a partnership arrangement under which
installation of the systems will be performed by ABX Air, while
the flat panel displays and supplemental type certificate (STC)
will be supplied by IS&S. The companies will complete delivery
and installation of the system in the first quarter of 2007.
“The IS&S Cockpit Information Portal (IS&S Cockpit/IP) is a cost-effective way to upgrade Boeing 757 and 767 avionics,” said Bill Brown, Director, Technical Sales for ABX Air. “The flat-panel display system includes primary flight/navigation display systems that can be retrofit in less than four days by ABX Air. Our customer will begin with the implementation of the IS&S STC and add other features, including Electronic Flight Bag, a dedicated standby flight instrument, and an Engine Indicating Crew Alert, as they become available.”
“The IS&S Cockpit/IPTM consists of a pilot and co-pilot suite of high-resolution, multi-color flat-panel displays using active-matrix liquid-crystal technology that offer logistics savings, improved dispatch reliability, minimal retraining, weight and heat reduction, and adaptability to future requirements,” according to Roman Ptakowski, president of Innovative Solutions & Support. “Under our agreement, ABX Air and Innovative Solutions & Support will work together to complete the upgrade on the private aircraft in executive configuration.”
ABX Air is also currently installing the FPDS on their own Boeing 767 fleet.
