ABX AIR HOLDS SILVER CELEBRATION WILMINGTON, OH - April 15, 2005 - Today ABX Air, Inc., celebrated its 25th Anniversary with an event in the hangar where it all began. VIP guests and long-term ABX Air employees were among the many who gathered to reminisce on the last 25 years. Representative David Daniels presented ABX Air with a commendation from the Ohio House of Representatives and U.S. Representative Mike Turner also recognized ABX Air on the occasion of its anniversary. “Created in 1980, shortly after deregulation of the airline industry,
ABX Air has stood the test of time,” said President and CEO
Joe Hete.
“In a period when many airlines were formed and folded in the span of a
few years, this airline thrived. Together with its parent company, ABX Air
created a niche market and developed a customer base that became the
standard for customer loyalty.” |

ABX’s Silver Celebration featured an open-house atmosphere where long-term employees could renew old friendships and talk with employees that they no longer see on a daily basis. “It used to be that we were all in the same building – or two buildings,” said Hete. “Now we are in over 25 buildings spread across 2,200 acres as well as in other locations across the country.” The celebration also was used to unveil the
new “nose art” on the latest aircraft to join the ABX Air fleet. A Boeing
767-200 special freighter is now detailed with the 25th Anniversary logo
including all the names of the 25+ year employees in it. |

“We wanted to recognize those employees who joined us in our first year of
business, and this was a good way to do that,” added Hete.
Employees who were with Midwest Air Charter before it was purchased by Airborne Express retained their years of service, creating the opportunity to have been with ABX Air longer than the company has been in existence. Over 160 employees have been with ABX Air for the full 25 years or more. Throughout the event, photographs highlighting the full span of the 25 years of operations were displayed. ABX Air, Inc. is a cargo airline with a fleet of 115 in-service aircraft that operates out of Wilmington, Ohio, and 18 hubs throughout the United States. ABX became an independent public company effective August 16, 2003, as a result of the separation from its former parent company, Airborne, Inc., which was acquired by DHL Worldwide Express B. V. In addition to providing airlift capacity and sort center staffing to DHL Express, ABX provides charter and maintenance services to a diverse group of customers. With over 8,000 employees, ABX is the largest employer in a several-county area in southwestern Ohio. For more information, contact ABX Air. ###
