ABX AIR CELEBRATES 100 DAYS WILMINGTON, OH - Nov. 20, 2003 - The arrival of the first aircraft bearing the new ABX Air, Inc., logo was the highlight of the day for many ABX Air employees. At 11 a.m. N900AX, a DC-9, taxied up to the front of the hangar. The event commemorated the first 100 days for ABX Air as an independent company. "It is always an exciting event for our employees when we get a new aircraft paint scheme," said Joe Hete, ABX President and CEO. "This aircraft is the first to announce to all who see it our status as an independent company - that is even more exciting." Although the separation was announced effective in mid-August, it will take some time to complete the rebranding of many of the physical facilities. "The aircraft are painted on a regular schedule," added Hete. "Our new logo was designed by employees as was this new aircraft design." It is significant that N900AX was chosen to be the first ABX aircraft painted in the new paint scheme. This DC-9 was the first one acquired by Airborne Express/ABX Air back in 1980. To help employees celebrate the event ABX
catered a picnic and provided every employee with a card bearing the
company values and a pin with the new ABX Air logo. The company also
rolled out the newly redesigned employee newsletter. |
