While most airlines transport people, ABX
Air, Inc., transports
packages. Because of ABX, the West Coast is just a few
short hours away from the East Coast. Packages shipped
from one coast at the end of the business day arrive on
the other coast in time to be delivered the next morning. Mid-continent
cities receive the same quick service.
Late each weeknight, airplanes begin arriving in Wilmington,
Ohio. Experienced handlers quickly unload the aircraft,
sort the packages by codes, then reload them on the
appropriate aircraft to be flown to their destination
cities.
The airline also runs a Day Sort operation and a network
of Regional Sort Hubs located strategically across the
country. Shipments with both origins and destinations near
these Regional Hubs need not be routed through the
Wilmington Hub. Just as ABX has staffed package handling
centers across the nation, it also has a nationwide
system of aircraft maintenance stations and personnel who
help ensure that the aircraft fleet flies safely and
dependably.
Keeping an airline flying is a complicated task and
requires dedication, training, experience, desire, and
pride - all traits exhibited by ABX employees who help
make the airline safe and successful. In many ways, the
airline is self-reliant, completing a variety of
functions in-house. Flight crew training, heavy aircraft
maintenance, aircraft component overhaul, airport
facilities and equipment maintenance are all accomplished
in Wilmington.
With everyones effort and determination, ABX has continued to be the fastest growing
airline in the business. With your help, we look forward to continued growth and
prosperity as we find new and better ways to serve our customers.
